The
Arc is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the
lives of individuals with any form of
intellectual or
developmental disability, and their families. The agency exists
to promote, support, and protect the quality of life and the
rights and opportunities of all persons with developmental
disabilities to realize
their goals and to choose where and how they live, learn, work
and play. The Arc seeks to accomplish its mission through
education, collaboration, and community involvement.
It's time for Summer Camp!
Register today for The Arc's 2011 Summer
Program for kids (ages 22 and under) with developmental
disabilities. All four weeks of camp will be held at Baylor
Beach Park in Navarre. Day camp is offered July 11-15, July
18-22, July 25-29 and August 1-5, from 8:30am to 2:30pm.
Transportation will be provided for Stark County residents
through Stark Board of DD. For more information, call The Arc at
(330)492-5225.
The Community Living Fund
The
Community Living Fund is a collaborative project through the Arc
of Stark County, The Foundation for the Challenged, The
Austin-Bailey Foundation and The Paul & Carol David Foundation.
It is
designed to eliminate barriers to living in the community for
individuals with developmental disabilities. These small
grants are intended to fund items that cannot be obtained
through Medicaid or other funding sources. An example
would be an adult with developmental disabilities receiving a
waiver, who is about to move into a group home, but does not
have the means to purchase a bed for his or her room.
To apply,
contact the Arc of Stark County at (330) 492-5225 or email us at
info@arcstark.org.
Arc Stark
Sibs Club
The
Arc offers a great program for typical children who have
brothers or sisters with developmental disabilities. This
free program is for children from the age of 6 to 10 and is
designed to address the unique relationship between children
with developmental disabilities and their brothers and sisters.
The club meets monthly on Saturdays at the Perry Township Police
Station. While the program is free, we do ask that you
sign up your child by calling the Arc of Stark County at (330)
492-5225.
