Save the date for this year's Arc Premier
Event. Once again this gala event will be held at the
Canton Palace Theatre in downtown Canton. But this year we
are proud to announce that the Premier Event will offer a live
show, featuring the comedy styling of three national performers,
who happen to make their home right here in Ohio.
Dave Kaplan, who has opened for well-known
performers such as David Spade and Harry Blackstone, Jr., will
start off the show with his unique one-man show. Kaplan
has appeared on ABC-TV's "The View" as well as "The Statler
Brothers Show" on TNN. He performs music, deadpan comedy,
juggles and is an award winning illusionist.
Mike Bishop will take the stage next.
Bishop has performed throughout the US and in three countries.
Mike has taken his show to Palm Springs Resort, the Palm Springs
Convention Center and casinos all over the country, including
Las Vegas.
Our third comedian is Ken Groves.
Ken is a ventriloquist and has a whole cast of characters.
Groves has taken his act all of the world. He is a
headliner for several cruise lines and performs at corporate
events throughout the US. Ken has performed with many
celebrities including Debbie Reynolds, Jerry Van Dyke, Kenny
Rogers, Trisha Yearwood, Billy Ray Cyrus and many more!
The entertainment will be only part of the
evening's festivities. Following the performances there
will be a live auction. Attendees also have the option to
attend the cocktail hour, which will feature heavy hors'd
oeuvres, a cash bar, a chance to mingle with "famous comedians
from years gone by", portrayed by local actors. Tickets
for the cocktail hour and show, which includes priority seating
for the comedy acts, are $35. There will be a limited
number of this tickets available. For those who wish only
to attend the show portion, tickets are $25. All tickets
can be purchased soon through the Canton Palace Theatre website.
Aultman and Aultcare are sponsoring
the event. More sponsorships, which include tickets to the
entire event, are available.

The Community Living Fund
The
Community Living Fund is a collaborative project through the Arc
of Stark County, The Foundation for the Challenged, The
Austin-Bailey Foundation and The Paul & Carol David Foundation.
It is
designed to eliminate barriers to living in the community for
individuals with developmental disabilities. These small
grants are intended to fund items that cannot be obtained
through Medicaid or other funding sources. An example
would be an adult with developmental disabilities receiving a
waiver, who is about to move into a group home, but does not
have the means to purchase a bed for his or her room.
To apply,
contact the Arc of Stark County at (330) 492-5225 or email us at

Arc Stark
Sibs Club
The
Arc offers a great program for typical children who have
brothers or sisters with developmental disabilities. This
free program is for children from the age of 6 to 10 and is
designed to address the unique relationship between children
with developmental disabilities and their brothers and sisters.
The club meets monthly on Saturdays at the Perry Township Police
Station. While the program is free, we do ask that you
sign up your child by calling the Arc of Stark County at (330)
492-5225. |
